Chilled and blended to perfection, smoothie recipes when well combined can be stunning. Certainly refreshing, they are great to start the day with; though are equally good at any point through the day. Here is a small selection of some of the favorite ones to try.
Breakfast is the most important time of the day; when the body is all geared up to take on board as many nutrients as possible. With that in mind, here is one of the all time classic breakfast smoothie recipes. And only taking about five minutes to make, it will not disrupt the usual mayhem.
One small and ripe banana diced and a selection of berries adding up to about 140g, (raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries are excellent here), is all that is needed. Having got these all ready, they simply need to be blended together, poured into a glass and drunk. Wonderful. For extra smoothness and another flavor, apple juice can be blended too.
Moving onto the afternoon, here too there is a great recipe for a pick me up. Particularly great after a long morning, it contains everything that is necessary. With a quick instant hit of sweet sugar for immediate action, slow release sugars to keep things going through the day, and proteins to keep the body and mind working well, it really is ideal.
Simply add one peeled and sliced banana to a blender, along with 250ml of soya milk, a teaspoon of honey, and two teaspoons of finely ground hazelnuts or oats and a little grated nutmeg to a blender. This should be thoroughly blended until smooth, and served with a sprinkling of chopped nuts on top. Enough for two, it is ideal to have a chat with a friend over.
As the day draws to a close, relaxing with a little bit of fizz is always nice. This recipe takes a little longer than most smoothies to prepare, but delivers a tasty, tempting and little bit naughty tipple. Ideal for parties too, the recipe here is for one or two.
All that is needed is a quarter mango, a quarter papaya, 40g of frozen mixed berries, a little orange juice and the juice of a half a grapefruit. Once prepared, all the ingredients should be blended. Adults can liven things up a little with a splash of Cava or Prosecco to finish.
These are just three of the numerous smoothie recipes that are most well liked. However, much as with cocktails, there really is no limit. Kids too will love them of course, so let yours and theirs imaginations just go, and there will be plenty of fruity fun to have.
