Benefiting From Fast Weight Loss

Weight loss is wonderful. Unless you are one of the people who have a problem gaining weight and/or keeping their weight on then weight loss is a huge bonus that often comes from real, intense, hard work. But what’s more wonderful than weight loss? More wonderful than weight loss is fast weight loss.

Fast weight loss used to have a bad name. And that bad name often persists even when new research suggests that what the public used to believe is inaccurate. The public is persistent and the public is stubborn.

So even once the news is out it often takes a while for a large portion of the public to admit that their old wives’ tales and mythical medical beliefs were not actually based on fact.

The negative nature of “fast weight loss” was founded on the claim that any fast weight loss would be gained back as soon as the diet is completed. Some imply that fast weight loss is nothing more than water weight lost. Some insist that any time they lose weight fast they gain it right back as soon as they stop dieting.

Sometimes these negative views on fast weight loss do occur. But apparently they are in no way an active definition of fast weight loss. How do we know this? New research published through the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine indicates fast weight loss is actually a positive way to start off a diet or dieting program.

Why is it a positive indicator? There’s more than one reason. Apparently women that lose weight fast end up losing more total weight in the end. They are also more likely to diet for longer consecutively. And that same group (women who lose weight fast) are more likely to maintain their total weight loss long term.

And those aren’t the only positives. Women who lose weight fast keep better weight loss journaling. They’re more likely to keep track of that they eat in a thorough manner. They’re also more likely to keep good records of their actual daily weight loss/weight gain. This makes them more likely to keep track of what they eat.

Good weight loss journaling makes it more likely that dieters will notice situations in which they are less likely to succeed on their weight loss plan. They are more likely to notice if certain places or times or locations result in poor eating choices. They are more likely to notice if certain times of the year or month or week result in weight gain. And knowing where the problems are at means you know what to do about it!
