When I won one of the grand prizes in the lottery, I immediately bought the car of my dreams. With this car, I have to be specially protected because it can be a little too showy.

The 10 minutes it takes to cover the distance from my office to parking space nightly gives me the most anxiety. This, despite my having gone abroad countless times. After a tough day, usually prolonged by overtime work, is when I am least alert.

I cannot forget that time when three men ran away with my bike. I was enjoying my ride at the park when suddenly they popped out from nowhere and forcibly took my bike away.

My friend Keith recently moved to a new apartment right across the street from mine because he often got robbed in his previous one. I offered him to stay with me but he politely declined.

I was getting annoyed when more and more of my personal things were getting lost. I asked my room mates if they had seen my graduation ring. Not anyone of them seemed to have a clue. At one time, the pearl necklace that was given me by my mother went missing. It seemed that this thief had a special liking to my small precious items.

Lots of criminals lurked around the corner in the fearful neighborhood where I lived when I was little, but they never harmed us. Still, it was not good for one not to worry because they could eventually change that mindset.

I was a completely peace loving person, hating to hurt anyone emotionally or physically. But my husband who worked for the military overseas insisted that I should have self defense products for protection.

Affluent homes in secure localities repeatedly fall prey to mugging and other atrocities. Call me cynical but parents slave away just so they can move their kids to those exact same neighborhoods.

They called me an alarm buff at the office. They can not blame me, if I was, after I was mugged twice and my house was robbed three times.
