Glad your back for part 2 of the article “Changing Your Thoughts to Promote Weight Loss”, because that means you’re one step closer to losing weight naturally by shifting your thoughts to be as supportive as possible for your weight loss goals!
It is important to understand how your thoughts impact your life, and specifically, losing weight, in addition to how to become aware, or mindful, of your current thought processes as discussed in Part 1 of this article. In this article, I’m going to share some techniques to help you shift your thoughts away from the ones that are holding you back from losing weight-a pretty important step to losing weight, don’t you think!?
Shift your thoughts.
Now that you’re aware of how you think and the degree to which your mind is cluttered with unsupportive, negative thoughts, you can begin to shift your way of thinking to a more positive and supportive one that will help you lose weight vs. holding you back.
One way to do this is to use helpful, positive statements and affirmations. I’ve mentioned positive affirmations several times as a tool for successful weight loss, and I do this because it’s one of the easiest methods to use. Come up with a list of positive affirmations that feel good to you and say them daily with loving and positive emotion. As you do this, your subconscious will believe what you’re saying over time, and these positive statements will replace the old negative thoughts that come to mind. This, my friends, means easier weight loss for you!
Clear your mind.
Sometimes we find that shifting our thoughts can be a bit challenging, so be gentle, because weeding out ingrained beliefs and thoughts takes time. After all, for most of us, those thoughts have been with us for years! But if you find that you’re having a hard time clearing out the negative clutter, techniques such as visualization and meditation can help you clear your mind to set the tone for more positive energy and thoughts to enter.
Visualization. You probably already visualize and just don’t realize what you’re doing. Do you ever see yourself winning an award or find yourself daydreaming about something you want to happen in your life? Well, you’re visualizing on some level when you do this. Visualization is taking a few moments each day to picture, or visualize, what you want in your life, and it helps to do it with emotion. If you see something you want, however, then the emotion will be positive by default, so this allows for positive thoughts to enter and replace old, negative thoughts around weight loss (or any subject, for that matter).
Meditation. Meditation is a great tool to quiet the mind and increase your energy to that of a positive tone, and meditations don’t have to last for a long time. A few minutes, 5 to 10, each day, or at least a few times a week, will help you quite your mind so you can have a clean slate for the day or week to allow positive thoughts to enter. By doing so, you’ll find the path to weight loss to be much easier. Also, meditation has been proven to have other positive health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure and stress in the body.
These tools and techniques will help you shift your thoughts to provide a supportive and positive environment for natural weight loss, so here’s to happy thinking! Good luck!
