You’ve probably spent your whole life hearing about how good washing your face is for you. If you’re like most of us, however, washing your face feels more like a chore that you have to do than something you should make the time to do. When all you want to do is go to sleep, washing your face is a huge pain in the…you know what–even if you can still remember your puberty years like they just finished happening. Here’s the skinny: to keep your skin clear and your pores unclogged, you need to keep your face clean. Are you prepared to be the only adult you know who still fights acne every day? Here is how you keep your face clean and keep acne away.
Make sure your pillowcases, blankets and sheets are clean. Some people can go weeks and weeks without changing their linens or washing their blankets. If you have problems with acne, you cannot afford to be one of these people. Instead of slacking, wash and dry your bedding every two or three days. This will help you make sure that excess dirt and debris will have a harder time finding their way into your face while you sleep. Make sure you always wear clean clothes and pajamas. It seems silly, but if you are prone to breakouts, sometimes all it takes to start a fresh one is wearing the same shirt a couple of days in a row.
Your hands should not touch your face if you can help it. Most of us don’t realize just how often we touch our faces during the day. Touching our faces is one of the reasons that pimples keep coming back. Take a minute to think about this. Every time you touch something and then touch your face you are transporting some of that item into your facial pores. Touching your face is a great way to clog your pores with the oil and other things your hands have touched during the day. This is also one of the reasons colds are so easily transmitted: you touch something that has germs on it and later brush your face with your hands which gives those germs easy access to your nose, mouth and eyes–prime entry portals! Keep your hands away from your face!
Natural acne remedies are another option if you suffer from breakouts. Some people swear by treating zits with toothpaste. Once a zit or pimple is completely formed, squeeze some toothpaste onto it and leave it alone overnight. Lock the pets out of the bedroom overnight so that they won’t try to taste the toothpaste or lick it off of your face and in the morning your zit will be a lot smaller than it was-it might even be gone! Egg whites are also supposed to be fantastic cleansers and pimple reducers. Either make a face mask from the egg whites and leave it on over night or dab some egg white onto a pimple with a q-tip.
Treat your acne in whatever way works best for you. The range of acne treating options ranges from the totally natural to the harshly chemical. There are even people who are able to treat their acne with only a balanced diet and regular exercise. You might have to try a few different remedies before you find the one that works for you. It shouldn’t take too long before you discover the acne remedy that works best for you. Keep trying and before you know it your skin will be acne free!
