Defining New Hair Removal Systems

You have a lot of hair on your body that is not wanted and should be removed, hopefully in a painless fashion. But, before you start removing hair you need to become familiar with the various type of body hair as they require different removal methods. Hair, is made of keratin which is a hard protein with the hair growth taking place beneath the surface of your skin and begins in the subcutaneous tubes called follicles. Most hair is basically two types, the terminal hair and the vellus hair. The vellus type is generally soft and found on the chest, face and back of women. The other type is terminal hair and tends to be harder and occurs on the head and face of men.

The two primary methods of hair removal are epilation and the depilatory hair removal methods. The first is the actual removal of the complete hair including portions that are below the skin. This method often entails, tweezing, waxing, sugaring, lasers and electrology. The depilatory methods require either trimming or shaving and are not as long lasting.

Razors, and electric shavers are generally used for the shaving and trimming of hairs. Epilating methods require that the hairs are tweezed or pulled out with the fingers of tweezers. Waxing is accomplished by applying a hot layer of wax, letting it cool and then pulling off rapidly in strips to remove the hair. Sometimes a mechanical device know as an epilator is used. This device grasps the hair and pulls them out rapidly. All of these methods are just temporary and the hairs eventually grow back.

Besides these temporary methods there are some more permanent and effective. Electroepilation, Photoepilation and Ultrasound depilation are some of these. Electrolysis will permanently remove hair using various methods such as Thermolysis or electrology or a combination of the two. Photepilation use lasers, intensed pulsed light and diode epilation to also permanently remove hair. Ultrasound is another option the can work to permanently remove hair.

In addition there are some banned methods and also some experimental methods of hair removal. X-rays have been used for hair removal but can cause disfigurement, health problems and even death. It has been banned just about everywhere. There is also an experimental method called Photodynamic therapy but this has not been approved for use int the United States.

These last methods can have some very serious consequences to say nothing of being very high cost. Some of these methods have not even completed their clinical trials. Because of these problems it is a good idea to get and opinion from your doctor before undertaking any one of them. You need to be sure that even if the method you use is temporary, that all tools are clean and sanitary. This is true even for the smallest pair of tweezers.

Hair patterns that result from a genetic predisposition, illness or even gender status, can be removed using these methods. What method you use and how you use it are completely up to you.
