Childhood obesity rate is growing like an epidemic across the world. It is mostly dominant in the western countries. Some argue this with the problem related to the genetics while it is mostly because of the irregular lifestyle in the west.

Children in recent times are getting lazy compared to past generations. Students went to their nearby schools by foot, but today they prefer to travel by car. Lifts and escalators are prevalent where stairs can be easily used which is also beneficiary to our health as it helps to compel our body to perform some amount of cardio exercises.
Further than this, there are decreasingly levels of sport played in schools, and kids are not as encouraged to be active as they once were. At home too; instead of playing with friends outside, this is more likely to be done in front of a games console. Again, the solution is clear however; exercise more and run around. Being out of breath and sweaty is a good thing.
It cannot be ignored that our body needs calories to produce energy to function properly. But if you store extra calories more than your body actually needs, then those extra calories will lead to a childhood obesity problem. If it is not taken care of in time, this problem is bound to grow large in future.
