Eating Healthier

1. Eat as many vegetables as you can. Vegetables are the ideal food when it comes to losing pounds. There are plenty of vegetables to choose from, and the leafy green vegetables are the best variety. A great way to incorporate vegetables is to eat a salad everyday – it’s tasty, easy to prepare, and there are plenty of ways to mix it up.

2. Exercise your judgment while eating. Animals are driven by their instinct to eat anything they can get their hands (or paws) on, but humans have the ability to choose what they eat. Don’t eat something simply because you feel like eating it. Take a minute and ask yourself whether it will be good for your body or not.

3. Watch what you eat. Keep a watchful eye on everything that goes in. Sometimes the garnishes can richer than the food itself. Accompaniments too can be very rich. Remember that it is the easiest thing in the world to eat something without realizing that it was something that you should not have eaten. Selective memory you know…

4. Control that sweet tooth. Remember that sweet things generally mean more calories. It is natural that we have cravings for sweet things especially chocolates and other confectionery. Go easy on these things and each time you consume something sweet understand that it is going to add on somewhere.

5. Set times of the day for meals and adhere to them. Of course, you do not need to eat on the dot – you can give yourself plus or minus half an hour around your mealtimes. Anything more than that and you will either not be hungry so that you barely eat or overly hungry so that you stuff yourself.

6. Eat only when you are hungry. Some of us have the tendency to eat whenever we see food. We use parties as an excuse to stuff our selves. Understand that the effect of a whole week of dieting can be wasted by just one day’s party food. Whenever you are offered something to eat do not decline it completely bit just break of a nibble so that you appear to mind your manners and at the same time can watch your diet.

7. Try not to have snacks in between meals, which may be especially tempting for those who travel a lot. The foods that are convenient are often not very healthy, usually being junk food is that they not only are less filling, but also have lots of fat and calories. French fries are a great example: quick and easy, but very unhealthy.

8. If you are desperate to snack, choose vegetables. You may feel hungry in between meals, but it something you can control. Some snacks can be carrots, celery sticks, or whichever vegetable you prefer. They are an excellent way to satisfy those hunger pangs and also take in some vitamins. It may not be the most exciting thing to eat vegetables, but it’s better than being fat.

9. Go easy on tea and coffee. Tea and coffee are harmless by themselves. It’s when you add the cream and sugar that they become fattening. Did you know that having a cup of tea or coffee that has cream and at least two cubes of sugar is as bad as having a big piece of rich chocolate cake?

10. Try to stick to black tea/coffee. Black tea or coffee can actually be good for you. But personally I would like to recommend tea rather than coffee. The caffeine in the coffee is not really good for you because it is an alkaloid and can affect other functions of your body like the metabolism.
