Some people think that doing facial exercises just involves stretching the skin and muscles on your face so that the muscles would increase their tone and exert a stronger pull on the skin. But you can’t go inventing your own exercises as you might not fully understand how they work and may do more harm than good.
If you want to get rid of wrinkles on the forehead or near the eyes, one exercise that is usually done is by raising the eyebrows as high as you can, while pulling down on your cheeks. This helps stretch your facial muscles in this area to slowly reduce the depth of your wrinkles.
You can also make your lips fuller and decrease sagging cheeks through facial exercises. You can do this by pulling down on your cheeks while smiling as hard as you can. These exercises work because they work your muscles to their limit. Similar to lifting weights when going to the gym, your facial muscles will increase their tone when stretching them to their maximum capacity. By doing this everyday, your muscles will slowly become stronger which causes them to exert a stronger pull on the skin attached to them. This makes your skin tighten and decrease sagging skin and wrinkles.
Aside from just stretching your muscles to their maximum capacity, you must do it in such a way that the skin do not fold that promote the formation of more wrinkles. If this is done in a way that the skin folds to accentuate your wrinkles, then you are doing it wrong. This will only highlight your wrinkles more thus negating the increase in tone of your muscles.
Once you have mastered these basic things that you need to know about facial exercises, you can start trying your own variations of the exercises. This will help in keeping you motivated to continue doing the exercises. You won’t be bored with doing the same exercises everyday anymore.
By doing your own variations of the exercises, you may be more motivated to continue doing the exercises as it will not seem like a chore that you keep doing the same things everyday. You may even start teaching others of the benefits that you can get form doing these exercises so that you have someone to perform the exercises with.
