When wanting to get rid of excess weight (or body fat), often folks turn to a “fad diet” thinking that it will be a quick fix…but there really isn’t one- at least, not one where the results will last.
I’ve seen and heard about so many of these fad diets… the Hollywood diet, the Eat-one-good-meal diet, the Lemonade diet, the 3 Day diet, Cabbage Soup diet, the Chocolate diet, the 7 Day All-you-can-eat diet, and the list goes on. In fact, there is a website that encourages you to create your own individual fad diet, and post it so others can use it!
One of the most difficult challenges for Americans today is controlling their weight- we are a nation fighting obesity and disease. Most fad diets are very restrictive, and most people can do anything for a short time, but what happens when you stop? Not only will you gain the weight back, you may gain even more! Optimal health is a lifetime of sensible habits, including proper nutrition and physical fitness. Good health is certainly possible, but you must implement changes with a support program…it’s all about balancing body chemistry.
Are you tired of riding the rollercoaster of dieting? Are you tired of being frustrated and discouraged? Then you must ask yourself, how efficient are my digestive and endocrine systems? Your body constantly gives you warning systems that it is toxic; headaches, sluggishness, fatigue, not being able to focus for any period of time, mood swings, constipation or diarrhea, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, etc. The body is tired of your weight going up and down too- it’s confused about it’s functions, so it starts to break down.
So, is there a more sensible approach to weight management? Just so you know, there are NO magic potions, lotions or pills that will remove the excess weight. Most of the products that grow in exotic places that are promoted as “natural miracle workers” have been so processed that they are in no way related to the native plant! They are simply chemicals created in a lab by companies with a good PR team.
There are things you can do, of course, but it’s really a matter of changes in your lifestyle. Do you have a good nutrition program, and do you exercise regularly? How is your spiritual and mental well-being? Are you getting enough sleep? All of these things contribute to a healthy body and a healthy life. How do you make the start to change?
Find a healthcare provider that you can work with to develop a program for optimal nutrition- and detox your body of toxins to balance your body chemistry. Ask questions and use common sense. You can’t live on cabbage for the rest of your life!
Take today and start making healthy changes for the rest of your life. Your family needs you around for a long time.
