Acknowledge the bad feelings, let them have their way with you for a while. It’s actually unhealthy to try to stifle the feelings of sadness or anger. Sure, you want to have a little control, such as not bawling at work, but don’t deny your feelings. When you are in a private place, turn on the water works, a good crying jag is good for the soul.

You don’t have to take up sky-diving, but you could. You may have looked at challenging things in the past and passed them up because of some apprehension; try them now. Don’t limit yourself. Expand. Learn to play a musical instrument. Take an art class.

What you’ll be doing is building self-confidence and discovering new things about yourself.

Sure, getting dumped is the pits, but you can’t have a pity party for the rest of your life. Break-ups can painful, they are also a step in life that will make you more self-confident, more resilient. Use your break-up depression wisely, use it to get ahead by conquering it.
