Get fit or stay fat. It’s what many of us struggle to overcome. Are you wondering how big you’ll grow in the next decade? Listen, we all do. But there’s hope for you.

As a medical researcher for nearly a decade, my focus is on health. Specifically how to get fit. I’ve researched what it takes. Also what it doesn’t. Having written for TV and radio across the U.S. for far too many years in a former career, I understand the double-talk, wink, wink properties of written propaganda. It was the gimmicks, games and go-rounds my clients wanted. Having more of it sold them millions of dollars in product.

Before we continue, I have a confession. I’ve written thousands of TV and radio commercials in my former career. My clients loved my ability to entice customers to buy. Only, after a long time, I grew sick and tired of tricking people to act. So now I bring you real facts along with shovel-fulls of truth on the subject of weight loss.

So here we go.

I want you to do something. Grab about one handful of fat on your body. What you now hold is nearly 3500 calories.

You see, to get fit, we all need to understand some math. How about we include some 5th grade math? 3500 x 7 equals what? You’re right. 24,500.

For you to lose 7 pounds in one week you need to subtract 24,500 calories. So, you either starve yourself from the 2000 (+/-) calories you eat everyday or cut calories. Then you workout like a superhero 60-120 minutes a day.

Here’s another confession. I’m not a superhero. Neither are you. Plus, if you were actually able to starve yourself dry of calories something would happen. You would drop dead from exhaustion.

Are you thinking about the impossible? Can you really lose the weight? Yes. But only if you start using the 1% rule. The amazing thing about the 1% rule is it won’t chain you at home starving while your friends and family are eating dinner.

Now if I was a betting person, I would wager you have lost weight in the past. But only a little right? Only, soon you gained it all back. You see, as we grow older, we see these types of unsuccessful attempts as failure. The 1% rule will combat the failure thinking while you begin to lose weight again.

This is not a joke. The 1% rule is based on something called progressive cycling. Think of it as adding tiny increments of activity without you feeling the pain of changing. You begin by eating 1% less food everyday. Then you exercise 1 minute more each day.

So the 1% rule goes like this. Day 1: eat about 1% less food or calories. It’s your choice. On this same day, workout for exactly 1 minute. Day 2 eat 2% less and workout 2 minutes. Guess what happens by day 31? Even cheating on foods here and there, you’ve cut out about 400 calories a day. But you’ve also developed a 32 minute workout for which helps you burn another 300-500 calories (depending on your routine of either running, aerobics and weight training). It totals 700 calories burned everyday. I know, it sounds crazy. Only, if we go back to your past failures with weight loss to get fit, what’s happened?

You and I know exactly what happened. The shiny new get fit program isn’t so shiny anymore. The devastating cut in food starts eating at you, right? The combination creates a double-whammy feeling in your brain. Pretty soon you’re eating fried onion rings for dinner in front of the T.V.

To summarize, you truly have nearly everything you need to get fit and lose weight forever. Except for one thing. The ability to change the way you think about food and exercise.

The crucial point is you’ve created millions of patterns in your brain to keep you fat. It’s as if they’re controlling your life in how you eat and workout.
