How long were you able to keep your resolutions last year, using your HCG diet recipes and all? If you’re one of the few and proud that is still holding strong, I extend my congratulations to you! You either picked really easy resolutions or you probably don’t need to read the rest of this article. Let’s face it, change isn’t ever an easy thing to create at will, and it’s even harder to maintain them. With that thought in mind I have put together a couple suggestions that will make the goal-setting and changing more successful.
Most resolutions in our society have something to do with losing weight with something like HCG diet drops, so we’ll use that example for the rest of the article. Moving on, the first tip to keep in mind is the formulation of a plan. As they say, “a failure to plan is a plan to fail.” Without the chiastic structure and reverse logic, that basically means that your chances of failure increase dramatically when you don’t have a plan. This should be a detailed plan including a long-term plan and a couple short-term plans varying in length from weeks to one single day.
Now, if you’re going to start on the HCG diet drops or some other kind of diet, it is a good idea to manufacture ways of holding yourself accountable. While there are many ways of creating accountability for ourselves, I have found two in particular to be quite effective when combined with each other. First, write down your weight loss goal or resolution and put it in a visible place. Ideally, you would have already completed this step when you formed a plan, but having your goal in a visible place is an important part of creating accountability for yourself.
The next part of accountability is a bit more difficult to agree to because it can have some annoying side effects. For example, if you were on the HCG diet and were making something other than the HCG diet recipes, how would you react if a friend or family member was kind enough to remind you that you were breaking the rules? Most of us might become slightly annoyed, but if we’re committed to a resolution that we set, we really should thank the people that try to help us improve. In fact, the second part of accountability is to tell somebody about the goal. If it’s a weight loss goal, tell your physician; if your resolution is to be more productive at work, tell your boss. Either way, taking the initiative to tell somebody about your resolution instills a sense of commitment and allows others to help you.
The final suggestion I’ll make that will help you be more successful in reaching your New Year’s resolutions is to start them early. One of the vices of Americana is procrastination and I like to nip it in the bud by beginning my annual improvements in late November or early December. Undoubtedly, the New Year will bring me added motivation and a fresh sense of optimism. Having the stone rolling before January 1st just adds to the optimism that a clean slate brings me. With these three suggestions combined, failure doesn’t stand a chance, and I’m on my way to a successful new year.
