Many times people avoid eating protein because they believe it is bad for their health, when it is actually just the opposite. Our muscles need precious protein to be able to grow and develop. When there is more muscle present in the body, the metabolism is affected and increased based on this new muscle mass.
This sounds relatively simple and it actually is. A high protein diet with lower intake of complex carbohydrates combined with daily exercise and a faithful regimen of water intake will quickly take off pounds. Water intake of at least eight glasses per day is crucial when consuming larger amounts of protein to avoid a buildup of ketones (fatty acids in blood).
While ketones are not harmful, elimination of this excess fat is much healthier. The water is important to stay hydrated and keep the body from retaining additional fluid as well. There is no reason to avoid red meat unless you just have an aversion to it; choose pieces with less fat content.
A certain amount of complex carbohydrates per day is required for your system to maintain good health. They need to be consumed in the form of healthy foods such as high fibers, vegetables and fruits. Combining aged cheese as a protein with fruit makes a great quick meal or snack when you are in a hurry. Never eat processed cheese; it has more calories and much less protein.
Four smaller meals every day are better if you can get them in and avoid eating late if possible. If you have a problem with snacks before bed or crave sugar at this time of the day, then you may have to save a piece of fruit to eat at this point to curb the cravings. Any exercise that you enjoy is beneficial as long as you stick with it daily as it is important to build muscle with the added protein consumption.
