Home Puffy Eyes Remedies Works – Part 2

Puffy eyes due to aging, drinking, smoking, stress or just about anything else? This is part 2 of our article on excellent home remedies that work.

Today’s cures start with the potato. Vastly underrated, this plentiful gravy-mate has a large array of anti-aging and healing qualities, including de-puffing your puffy eyes.

In European folk medicine the potato is tried and true as a means to soothe painful joints, headaches, and other inflammatory conditions. Potato starch also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to ease those puffy eyes.

Directions: Peel one potato, then wash and dry it. Grate the potato as finely as possible. Place the pulp in a clean cloth and fold to make a poultice. Place the poultice on your eyelids for 15 minutes, and behold your de-puffed eyes.

Cold water. My personal experience with this one is incredible. Before going to work, when you just have a few minutes to get ready, you don’t have time to pamper yourself with potatoes and cucumber slices, but don’t despair. Cold water works in less than 10 seconds!

Directions: Turn on the water faucet. Wait for the water to get cold. Rinse your face with a few good splashes of cold water. The coldness of the water will constrict your blood vessels and reduce swelling in seconds. Always underrated – always works.

Salt. Yep, salt. French fries, pizza and other sodium-rich foods will often cause puffy eyes. However, salt in and of itself is great for reducing them!

Directions: Place 1/2 teaspoon salt into one quart warm water. Put cotton balls or facial pads into the solution. Gently squeeze out excess water, lie down and apply pads to eyelids. Leave on for about ten minutes. When done, you’ll be amazed at your younger looking and de-puffed eyes.
