How Beneficial Are Infrared Saunas?

Many peoples around the world have truly embraced the use of sauna for many decades, and as such it’s built up over the years a lot of folklore. Here’s a particularly strange one: One research study using an animal model demonstrated that heat conditioning was able to protect the rats from noise-induced hearing loss. Subjecting the rats to high heat conditions just before exposing them to what is commonly a damaging level of noise actually was able to reduce the amount of damage done to the hearing they experienced when compared to controls.

The tradition of the use of sauna being prevalent in cultures such as that of the Finns, Russians, and Koreans is not without a certain healthy helping of substance and legitimacy. It’s profoundly unfortunate that within the US most individuals are completely without the knowledge of the usefulness of the sauna.
