Also, a low carbohydrate diet leaves people with only two other food sources: fat and protein. Too much of either can cause problems. Fat, especially saturated fat, can lead to heart disease and scores of other health issues. Too much protein has been known to damage the liver. Most people are unaware of these facts and will overdo it with protein and fat to their health’s detriment.

The number of calories you consumer per day will determine how much weight you gain or lose. If you eat fewer calories than you maintenance level and eat fewer than 100 grams of carbs a day, you will discover you can drop weight.
Carbohydrates are known to increase insulin levels and enhance water retention. Carbs will also add a lot of sugar into the bloodstream. When you are ingesting more than 100 grams of carbs per day, you will find it pretty difficult to lose weight. There is an exception to this if you are a highly active person that exercises with high intensity levels regularly. Such activities would burn up your carbs through the workout session.
Those that are not as active as they should be need to keep carb intake as manageable as possible or else weight gain may occur. Effectively managing carbs will revolve around the volume of carbs you eat. Eating a lot of carbs early in the morning may be okay because they might be burned up by the end of the day. Eating tons of carbs late at night could lead the carbs to becoming fat.
Low carb diets might be helpful to those looking for short term fat loss in the context of an inactive lifestyle. But, most people really do not need to engage in a low carb diet. Alternative diet plans should be followed instead.
