How To Manipulate Insulin

Ignore all the marketing hype. There is only one thing you should direct all energies toward: insulin. After all, insulin dictates how much weight you will be able to shed.

Thus, no matter what you do, if your insulin is high you will NOT be able to lose fat.

So without further delay, here is how to get control back:

1. Say goodbye to sugar. Every single carbohydrate you eat will eventually get converted into sugar through the digestive process. Unfortunately, sugar has a very strong impact on insulin. So please stay away from fast digesting carbohydrates.

2. Lower levels of body fat. Ironically, reducing levels of body fat is one of the most powerful ways to lower levels of circulating insulin. When you lose body fat, your insulin sensitivity goes up. This means that you need a smaller amount of insulin to get the same job done.

3. Embrace yourself for withdrawal. Yes, fast digesting carbohydrates (i.e., sugar) can cause drug-like symptoms of withdrawal. After all, drugs and sugar activate the same parts of the brain. I recommend using strong herbal teas and activities you enjoy doing as a distraction mechanism.

4. Do not accept whole grains as the holy grail. Unfortunately, too many fitness professionals recommend whole grains as a healthy carbohydrate choice. We have not evolved to eat whole grains. Even though they have fiber, they are still not low GI carbs. Proceed with moderation here.

5. Avoid alcohol. Not only does alcohol provide a LOT of calories, but it also leads to fat storage around your stomach. And fat around your stomach causes huge increases in circulating insulin levels. I would recommend no more than 1 small serving of alcohol per day.

If you can control insulin, you can lose as much body fat as you want, period. I believe the biggest hurdle most people face is dealing with the dopamine withdrawal that is accompanied by the absence of sugar.
