Hypnosis for weight control is a common practice used for controlling weight. The question is, does it work? There is no solid proof that hypnosis alone is an effective or not effective treatment for weight control. There is just not enough evidence. But it is not recommended that hypnosis is tried out first. Exercising and maintaining a well-balanced diet are proven effective methods for weight loss. But hypnosis therapy is yet to be regarded as “effective”.
During the session, your mind is relaxed. The hypnotherapist creates visual images of goals and suggestions. He/she may suggest that you eat less sweets. In the hypnotic condition, you are more likely to take those suggestions. This is when you are highly responsive and open to ideas. Some people are more responsive to this treatment than others.
The weight loss hypnosis method works in many people and may not work in others. You should carefully research all your options for achieving your goal of shedding pounds. Ask questions. Find out if hypnosis is right for you. And remember, there is no substitute for healthy eating and exercise.
