Is A Plateau Killing All Your Motivation?

Nothing is more de-motivating that being stuck in a plateau. After all, nobody likes to keep on working only to notice that their efforts aren’t producing any results.

Unfortunately, many people do not know how to pull themselves out of a plateau.

So here are 6 ways to get yourself out of a plateau:

1. Avoid cheat food: The concept that cheating can help with fat loss is ludicrous. Weight loss is ultimately controlled by calories in versus calories out. So if you have a cheat meal or an entire cheat day, those calories will have to made up for at some later point in time.

2. Ramp up your vegetable intake: This is the simplest, yet most effective thing you can do to speed up weight loss. You see, vegetables stabilize blood sugar while simultaneously decreasing hunger. And the best thing here is that they don’t have a significant amount of calories.

3. Don’t rest as much between sets: By decreasing your rest periods between sets of exercises you will increase the metabolic demands on your body. This in turn will have your burning more calories inside and outside of your workouts.

4. Do more non exercise activity: Light activity that simply gets your body moving is great for burning more calories while not taxing your body. Even better, a higher percentage of these calories will come from your fat cells.

5. Maintain a food journal: At this point I don’t recommend measuring anything, but at the very least you want to eyeball quantities. After a couple weeks of doing this, slowly decrease your serving sizes. Hopefully, this will jumpstart your weight loss.

6. Start weighing all your food: You should only go to this extreme once you have tried everything else. After all, weighing all your food can get tedious. The good news is that you won’t have to do this forever. Once you figure out your new caloric intake, stick with it.

Plateaus are extremely de-motivating and the longer you stay in one the more likely it is that you will fall off the bandwagon. So take action here sooner rather than later!
