Is All The Protein You Are Eating Going To Your Fat Cells?

You definitely have to watch caloric intake when trying to lose body fat. However, you also have to focus on what happens to those calories once consumed.

Unfortunately, many people do not know how to maximize the amount of protein going to their active tissues.

Thus, here is how to prevent protein from feeding your body fat:

1. Eat highly bio available sources: A protein that lacks bioavailability will not have a complete amino acid profile. And a protein without all the amino acids will not get absorbed very well within your active tissues. This translates into slower growth.

2. Have as much balance as possible in each meal: Take out one food group and digestion will speed up. And once digestion speeds up, less protein gets to your active tissues. Thus, make sure you have balanced meals with lots of vegetables.

3. Try to eat smaller meals more frequently: Your body cannot store protein for very long periods of time. Thus, once you run out of reserves your body will begin to breakdown your muscles in order to get amino acids.

4. Avoid supplements: Your body will absorb more protein if it’s in natural food form. You see, supplements digest too quickly. The only time you should use supplements instead of whole food is right after a resistance training workout.

5. Don’t rely on complimentary proteins: If you are a vegetarian, don’t rely on complimentary proteins only. You need to have soy and its derivative, tofu, in as many meals as possible. Aim for at least half of your protein needs as coming from these products.

6. Do a lot of resistance training: Resistance training is the ultimate path to increasing not only protein absorption, but also carbohydrate absorption. You see, lifting weights causes the membranes of your cells to change.

You can’t just focus on total food consumption here. You also have to focus on getting the food to your active cells once digested!
