As you might imagine Cryotherapy may be painful, not only at the time of the treatment, but for a period afterward as well. At the very least this treatment will sting you.
There is a good possibility that the area immediately following the procedure may swell and turn reddish in color. There are good steroid creams available and an application a few times a day will help the pain and redness. Any anti inflammatory drug will help orally and release some discomfort.
After the procedure care
Once the treatment has been given, that’s not the end of the story. You’ll notice a series of events starting shortly after the cryotherapy treatment is completed. The first is a blistering of the area.
Once the procedure is over there will be this blister which could be oftentimes clear and not have any colors others will probably turn into a red color. DO not be concerned as it s normal and to be expected.
During this phase of the post-therapy, the blister needs no special treatment while it’s healing. The most you’ll want to do with this is to gently wash it at least once and preferably twice a day.
Within a few days, the blister heals over, creating a scab. The scab should be dabbed with petroleum jelly. Don’t try to speed your body’s healing process along by picking at the scab in an attempt to remove it sooner than necessary. It’ll come off in a matter of 10 days or so if it’s located on the face. If you’ve had warts or moles removed from your hands, it may take up to three weeks for the scab to fall off by itself.
There are other places like the legs where this process of healing is slow and long. It may even take three months for scabs to fall away. DO not do anything just wait for nature to take its own course.
There may be secondary infection
There are no such secondary infections as a rule for this procedure. When it does come it will be with pus filled yellow color. There will be again redness of that area due to infection. The doctor needs at his time to be consulted and he may prescribe anti biotic to reduce this infection.
If it happens that the area is somewhere near the eye, there will be puffiness around eye lids for some time. They usually develop over night.
