Just because you can’t see your back doesn’t mean you should neglect it. And this is what many people do: they fail to properly train their backs because they aren’t the “show off” muscles.
Perhaps you are someone that hasn’t been working on their back. Perhaps you simply didn’t know that it was such an important area to develop.
Thus, here is how to make sure your back isn’t dangerously underdeveloped:
1. Never do the same workout consecutively: The human body adapts way too quickly. As a result, never do the same workout twice. Have at least one different workout in between similar workouts. This will keep your muscles guessing and the results coming.
2. Reduce rest a lot: By reducing rest, you will tax your body like nothing else. Not only will this provide a new stimulus to your muscles, but it will also increase the metabolic demands of your workout which will burn a higher percentage of fat per unit of time.
3. Constantly change your grips: Go overhand, go underhand and even experiment with sideways grips. Another way to switch things up is to use straps every once in a while. This technique will take the load off of your arms and place more stress on your back muscles.
4. Use ultra wide grips: This will help you develop a wider back. And a wider back will make your waist seem a lot smaller. This is a great technique for those that are born with a naturally bigger waist. You see, when you use narrower grips you transfer more stress to the lower part of your upper back.
5. Pinch your elbows together: You want to do this towards the end of each movement. By trying to pinch your elbows together (towards the middle part of your back), you will engage all the little muscles that pull your shoulder blades backwards. In other words, it’s a great way to improve your posture.
Having a strong and well developed back is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also vital for the modern day person. So make sure you take action on this information now, not later. After all, later usually never comes!
