Are you troubled by moles, warts, and skin tags? If so, don’t feel bad. There are many ways to get rid of them, you can have this sort of benign skin lesion removed if you find them painful, irritable, or simply ugly.
Many moles, warts, and skin tags are removed through surgery but there are still other ways you can treat them. If a mole changes in shape or color it could be cancerous so you need to see a doctor to have it surgically removed. Many times a biopsy is ordered, if this is the case, a small sample of the lesion will be sent to a lab for analysis.
Relatively small and harmless moles, warts or skin tags can be removed by using a liquid gas or smearing on a certain substance. The gas or substance ‘freezes’ the lesion thereby making it easier to remove. Larger skin lesions are cut off surgically. You don’t need to stay overnight at the hospital because the surgical operation is unobtrusive.
However, obtrusive operations will need to be done under a local anesthetic to get rid of the moles or warts. You will be awake during the procedure, but the treated area will be numb. Occasionally exemptions are made and the client will be put under general anesthetic. If you needed a local anesthetic, you can drive yourself home after about two hours, but if you were under a general anesthetic, you will need to have someone drive you home. It’s also good to have someone stay with you for a day or so to make sure you don’t have a reaction to the drugs.
You can continue your activities as normal after the moles and warts are removed. However, you have to practice extra care and you have to ensure that you don’t scrape or knock the treated area. Some patients feel pain or discomfort but you can take Paracetamol to numb it.
If non-dissolvable stitches are used, you must return to the hospital or clinic to have them removed. Be sure to keep an eye on the area and note any pain, swelling or seepage. If this is the case, there may be an infection and you must see your doctor right away.
Surgery is extremely safe and there are no adverse effects. With an anesthetic, however, there could be some side effects so you should watch the affected area for a few days. If the skin lesion that was removed was large, there could be a permanent scar, but the smaller ones should heal completely without leaving any scar at all.
Check with your doctor about the removal of skin tags, warts and moles. The best way to remove your lesion can be determined by a physician. Don’t irritate your warts or moles by picking at them.
