Staying hydrated during an intense workout routine is incredibly important to the results that you end up getting. You’ll more than likely find yourself drinking something before you exercise, during and for a certainty afterward. Having plenty of fluids in your body is essential to replenish nutrients and take care of your potentially worn out and exhausted body. Several questions though should be asked in regards to what you drink like “what should I drink during my workout routines?” or “how will what I drink affect my results?”
Over the past several years there’s been an amazing increase of the usage of energy drinks. It seems like since Gatorade came to market there has been almost every single conceivable type, flavor and ingredient filled high energy or post exercise energy drink to fill your needs.
However, after intense blitzkrieg style advertisements from the television to radio to almost every magazine on earth that has anything to do with fitness many people have started to back away from these so called after workout drinks.
If you’re pondering the question why are energy drinks becoming less important to those in the fitness and health industry. You will probably find the answer to that question on the label of almost every energy drink available. The main ingredients of many of these so-called sports drinks or energy drinks include many artificial ingredients and unnatural sweeteners and colors. These ingredients that are obviously very bad for you are found in not just a few but almost all energy drinks.
When these studies and research have been considered those that are serious about their health and their fitness have come together in an almost Renaissance fashion to remove the energy drinks away from them. They decided to forgo the catchy, colorful and fruity water melon lime, ice blasted energy drinks and turn to what nature has provided as being the best drink available, that being good old fashioned water.
Yes water good old fashioned H2O is making a mighty come back on the world scene of fitness and weight loss. Granted there are varying degrees of water from mineral water to sparkling, but the principle idea of H2O is always the same, no added ridiculous named flavors, colors or roots to trick me into thinking I will turn into superman overnight.
As this renaissance of returning to origin continues though many have begun to do extensive studies and research into what types of water should be ingested and have come to the conclusion that not all two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen is the same. No, much of the water that is consumed from bottles distributed to most super markets and grocery store chains has gone through much and lost many of the natural properties it once had.
A major property of water is that it is a neutral substance on the pH scale. A quick review of the pH scale for those that are unaware runs from 0 to 14 with a pH of seven being in the middle and being neutral. A pH of seven is said to be not acidic nor alkaline but nuetral. Perfect water that comes from the ground and has been untouched by man is often a pH of seven and should therefore be the benchmark for water that we have access to today.
By means of the very processes that your water goes through like reverse osmosis, being bottled in harmful plastics, the shipping methods that are used, the temperature shifts, to the very length of time the water sits on the grocery store shelves all of these factors have a bearing on your water being good for you or not. Many of the times the water that we drink is useless to us as the energy drinks that we have abandoned. One might think to themselves that this sounds like a problem but there are in fact ways to still get good water.
With a little research and time on your part you will find that PH balanced alkaline water is actually easier to come by than you think and is exactly what your body needs for real, proper hydration after long intense workout routines. It is strongly encouraged that if seeking long lasting results form exercise and general good health is what your after make sure that the water you drink is helping you not hurting you.
