Yes, Turkey day is right around the corner, and though you’re on a natural weight loss program, it doesn’t have to be hard, difficult or disappointing to be working towards your goals during the Thanksgiving holiday. In fact, it’s very important that you stay on track to meet your goals for the following reasons (and then some):
*You’ve made it this far.Think of the effort and work you’ve put in to this point. It doesn’t matter if it’s been 1 month or 9 months. Regardless, you owe it to yourself to keep up with the lifestyle you’ve created for yourself to have a healthy and positive life.
*You’re health is more important. No matter what, you and your health are more important than anything else. You aren’t good to anyone else if you’re not healthy and happy, so keep a positive mindset as you enter the Thanksgiving holiday and know that you’ll be able to succeed!
*You can set the example for your family.Healthy eating isn’t just for those who are trying to lose weight. Healthy living means a healthy lifestyle and long-term health, so keep in mind that you set a good example for others when you show that you have the willpower to eat healthy and stick to your weight loss goals on Thanksgiving Day.
Now that we’ve covered some of the reasons as to why you want to stay on track during the Thanksgiving holiday to ensure you meet your weight loss goals (and you may have plenty of items to add to the list), let’s talk about some tactics to use to help you truly stay focused.
*Prepare healthy dishes that taste good.No need for eyes rolling on this one, because I’m talking about making a few tweaks to make your regular Thanksgiving favorites healthier, like using organic ingredients, whole grains in place of processed or refined ones, low fat milk, agave or coconut sugar instead of regular sugar for sweetener and desserts, and so on. Also, look for some tasty, yet healthy recipes to add to your menu that the whole family will enjoy.
*Keep up with your diet journal. It’s more important than ever to keep up with your journal the week of Thanksgiving to document what your dietary intake is as well as your physical activity. This will help you focus and be aware of what you’re truly eating.
*Keep up with your exercise routine. If you do splurge a bit during the holiday week, that’s OK, but be sure to exercise at least as much as you usually do, and you may want to amp it up a bit this week to burn off some extra calories if your intake increased at all.
*Enjoy yourself! And most importantly, have fun with your family and friends! The more positive you are going into the week, the easier it will be to stick to your weight loss goals. Plus, life’s about having fun, so enjoy yourself on your weight loss journey!
The Holidays are a time for celebrating, so celebrate your life, your natural weight loss journey and achievements and the fact that you’re surrounded by family and friends during the holiday. You’re weight loss program will stay intact if you keep these reasons and pointers in mind.
