By making some simple changes to your daily routine you can make a huge difference to your energy levels and at the same time drop some body fat. How great would that be! Here are my top energy sappers!
Refined Carbohydrates. These are usually the foods that you grab on the run or when you feel you need a quick sugar fix. And that is all you will get – a quick fix which then will drop your energy levels below what they were when you started! Refined carbohydrates are those foods such as white flour bakery goods such as cakes, donuts etc that have had a lot of their nutritional value taken out but the sugars left in! Wholegrain carbohydrates are essential for our energy and brain function so its important not to avoid them altogether, simply make smarter choices.
Saturated Fats and Trans-fats. Eating foods with these in them are going to make you feel heavy and lethargic. You’ve read the information about fats, so you know they’re not a great choice for your body, particularly if you want to feel energetic
Alcohol. Alcohol causes dehydration which in turn causes tiredness. Be aware of how much you are drinking and how often. Be aware that a standard drink is actually only about 100ml and health authorities recommend that women should be only having at most 1 standard drink per day! Measure it and see, it is not a lot of alcohol! Another bonus of reducing your alcohol intake besides improving your energy, is the obvious advantage of not taking in all those extra calories! Your body does not require alcohol to perform so it will work on digesting and getting rid of the alcohol before it works on your fat stores!
Not eating enough fibre If you’re not eating enough fibre the food is not being processed in your body efficiently creating a sluggish system and making you feel tired, bloated and lethargic.
Not drinking enough water. This may seem such a simple idea, however so many people out there in the community are fatigued because they are dehydrated. By slowly increasing your water intake by sipping small amounts throughout the day you can really increase your energy levels. Incorporate these easy to follow tips into your daily routine and you will soon be seeing great changes to your energy!
