Low Cost Acne Treatments

What you may want to know about cheap acne treatments

Acne is a much feared skin condition that can be difficult to cure and cost a fortune to treat. Most people, often, cannot afford these expenses. A great alternative are skin products prepared at home. They are a lot cheaper than and as effective as modern drugs. These home remedies may take time to get rid of acne but do less damage to the skin. None of them have any adverse effects.

Some well known home made remedies

The two most popular remedies in use for a long time are the ones that use baking soda and tea tree oil. Baking soda is the more popular of the two treatments. It is a very alkaline substance that has excellent anti bacterial properties. It is also effective in arresting the spread of acne to other parts of the skin. For treating acne take about one teaspoon of baking soda and make a paste of it with a little water. Clean the affected area with some acne soap or some good cleanser. Then gently massage the baking soda paste on the area around the acne lesion and then rinse. Tea tree oil is also known to be very effective in destroying acne causing bacteria. Studies have shown that it is as effective as benzoyl peroxide in fighting acne. The way to use tea tree oil is to take a little bit of it on a cotton swab and apply directly on the acne pimple. Don’t use too much of the oil. Tea tree oil is available at the natural foods market or at any health food store.

Some precautions that need to be taken

Be gentle while you are cleaning your skin. Vigorous rubbing can spread acne to other parts of the skin. Select a cleanser with care. Ensure that the cleaner has no ingredient to which you are susceptible. Always consult your physician before using a skin product – even home made skin products. Remember home made remedies take time to act. Don’t expect results overnight. To improve the chances of clearing acne drink as much water as you can and change over to a low carb diet.
