The master cleanse diet can be described as cleanse method made to help the body rid itself of toxins and waste. Doing a cleanse is absolutely not accepted by Western medicine as being necessary or beneficial to one’s health. However, I have done several total body cleanses and in some cases fast on occasion, and I can tell you that my personal opinion is that it is worth doing if you are looking to enjoy more energy and feel fantastic.
In order to do the master cleanse diet, first you must “eat healthy” for a few days prior to starting. Eating clean is solely eating as a rule uncooked vegetables and fruits, avoiding meat and dairy, and avoiding all unhealthy food. Unhealthy food consists of sugary foods, fried foods, fatty foods, and processed foods (if it can be purchased in cellophane, is frozen, or has preservatives, it’s processed).
When you start to cleanse, you will be drinking a combination of:
– one gallon of water,
– 1 cup of fresh-squeezed lemon juice,
– ten-20 drops of cayenne extract (a few drops per eight ounce glass is plenty),
– and 8-10 tablespoons of organic maple syrup or blackstrap molasses.
For the duration of your master cleanse, you’ll drink between eight and 16 8-ounce glasses of the master cleanse mixture every day and nothing else but pure, clean water. A single 24 hour master cleanse is adequate for nearly everybody for those who have been eating clean before your master cleanse. Unless you are fasting under a physician’s direction, it is probably unsafe for you to continue just drinking the master cleanse lemonade for a longer period.
The reason is there is a real risk of having an electrolyte imbalance if you ever fast for more than 2 or three days. That’s the reason I no longer do this sort of master cleanse diet. Instead, I follow a far easier routine that does not require prolonged fasting, yet still flushes out toxins and waste and makes your body drop unwanted pounds.
