With so much “fad” based exercise programmes and an expanding amount of Wii’s and Kinnects is hard to pick out one based on easy facts and the results it feasible to gain.Now, I’ve in no way been a massive fan of the gym, two fold. Firstly i’m skinny and pale and the fitness center is a breeding ground for the “fabulous” the those with all round tans, properly sculpted arms and washboard (is that also the term) abs. Secondly its soooo boring. I mean no offence to those who attend these establishments with any sort of regulatory approach, but for me, I may maintain momentum for also eager to go there. The drudgery of static running while watching the information on a crackly screen, or running in the fresh air, in a rural area side, just seems a little bit of weird to me.
So let’s get involved in the youth aspect when involving Mountain bikes. Kids too lazy or too addicted to games consoles to move or pick up a ball or kick one around a field .I applaud this believe it or not, although it smacks of “can’t beat them join them mentality” it does encourage movement or exerting an element of effort rather than motionless button bashing. We have a Wii in our household and its gets everyone in involved tossing the virtual caber or punching a virtual face, good fun. However again this has a limited appeal as a child’s mentality is to play the game not ” I must get some exercise” so as soon as some fluff or a new episode of The Simpsons makes it way on the TV you’ve lost them. Also, Games getting old and then un-played so keeping it fresh can prove hard.
So what’s best then? For me, Cycling has developed into something it’s possible to love and enjoy without needing to be talented or freakishly strong. I have a mid level mountain bike that enables me to ride around my local countryside and a nice controlled pace whilst exerting a level-headed amount of exertion to the process. There is honestly nothing better, than the peace and quiet of a cycle around the lake, taking in the beauty so often missed in our busy lives, breathing some clean air and escaping the real world. Poetic isn’t it.
Outlay on equipment can be minimal dependent on your grade of commitment or ardour for the sport. My Mountain bike is middling, it charge me around 800 and is ample for what type I need. Bikes may range from a couple of hundred pounds, correct upto 10K for the industry experts however these are extreme.
Road bikes seem to be increasingly popular, whenever I am trying to get somewhere anyway!
