Nonverbal Communication

It has been said that 93% of all communication happens on a non-verbal level. However, this is something that we don’t consciously learn, and we are not taught how to use body language in the same way that we use verbal language.

Recently however, theorists have been finding ways of teaching people how to alter how they communicate in this nonverbal way, so that they can positively influence their social interactions every day.

Here are some of the key ways to improve your abilities to communicate nonverbally.

* Learn form the experts!

Have a look at books and CDs by figures such as Paul Mckenna and Anthony Robbins, just two people who are experts in this field. They can teach you an impressive amount about how body language, human interaction and psychology can be used to your advantage in many social situations.

* Your appearance plays a big part in determining your self-esteem and confidence.

Perhaps one of the most effective methods that many people employ to feel better about themselves is to go to the gym and work out, and this is because there is a significant link between your confidence and your physical state. It’s becoming really common to have procedures such as teeth whitening done for this very reason – a great smile is something that so many people want, because it’s seen as such an important part of your physical appearance. These sorts of procedures are often carried out by many reputable dentists at very reasonable prices.

* We are only human – accept that we will all make mistakes

No-one is perfect, and it’s important to bear in mind that any alterations to your appearance should be done for yourself and yourself alone – not as a way to compete with anyone else. By accepting that you are not, and never will be, perfect, you will become much happier and no longer feel the need to constantly seek approval from others.

* Try being more or less expressive.

Being able to display a broad range of responses to people and social situations is a very rare and important thing to be able to do, but it’s a talent that you can practice and improve. If you are usually quite a quiet person, then have a go at being louder and more expressive sometimes. On the other hand, if you are typically much more outgoing, then experiment with being more reserved in your dealings with others.
