Tony Horton, born Anthony Sawyer Horton, is a well known exercise instructor. His most famous endeavor of his career is the exercise system called P90X. He was born in Rhode Island but raised in Connecticut. When it was time to go to university, he got his degree at the University of Rhode Island. However, he felt attracted to the west coast and moved to Los Angeles.
Tony planned to act while in Los Angeles and was also found doing stand up comedy before he turned to making his well known programs. While frequenting the gyms it became obvious to him that he did not like the bulky look of body builders or their inability to move with a great deal of flexibility. Soon, Mark Sisson introduced Tony to interval training.
In the 80’s Tony began his personal training business and called it ASH fitness. He developed exercise plans for different magazines as well as well known musical artists. Before beginning his own program, he was a spokesman for Nordic Track.
His own workout series began with Power 90 when the Beachbody Fitness Company asked him to develop it in the late 1990’s. This involved high intensity cardio combined with strength building. Tony made other small series videos before P90X became known. The final program included highly intense workout routines and meal plans for people to follow for 90 days.
His well known program is known for creating muscle confusion for the people using it. It is designed to involve variety and high levels of intense exercise. It uses unfamiliar but controlled movement that leads to quicker strength building.
P90X+ came out not long after the original series in 2007 followed by his Ten-Minute Trainer series for people who did not have time to do the full length exercise. They were brief but effective exercises.
In December of 2010 you can look for Tony’s new book. Then, in 2011 be on the lookout for the new P90 release called P90X:MC2.
Tony is known for his exercise videos that aim to help people build endurance and get stronger. However, he was actually in the two films The 13th Warrior and Last Action Hero. He has also made videos for Kids and numerous others.
As busy as Tony is he continues to keep contact with his fans and potential customers. He has facebook and twitter pages and even runs his own blog. He uses the blog to motivate and give advice from large ideas to small things like drinking coffee or alcohol. He informs others of their different options any opportunities available and shows that he still loves the business. While Tony’s is most well known for his successful P90X program, he continues to keep informing people of how to take better care of themselves and reach their goals.
