There are many different locations that offer some sort of specials. The places that are the most populated, I think, are the ones that need to offer some sort of specials. They are the ones who are losing the most business. There are some of the Applebee’s that offer specials on different days of the week. It is the fact that they are trying to keep in mind that the economy is horrible right now.
Not only has this particular chain had to make some changes, but many restaurants have had to make some changes to make sure that consumers continue to come in. When business’s don’t make necessary changes, they end up getting put out of business. Hopefully the economy gets a bit better so all this won’t be necessary.
If you take a couple minutes just to think about it, there are actually tons of ways that restaurants as well as people can save money or save on the cost of food items. The thing that comes to mind first is paying less for food. Maybe they could start ordering their food from a new supplier. Maybe they could start to order their meats in bulk or by a larger quantity. This almost goes without saying but I thought I would mentions it. I know that when I was in college and the economy started to turn upside down, that most restaurants started charging a bit more while serving smaller portions. It sounds cheap but it seemed to work. Some small family owned restaurants actually grown their own veggies or at least some of them.
As far as liquids and drinks go, I think the best thing they could try to do is get a discount from the distributor in order the keep the business relationship going. If that happens to fail, they could always start offering coupons as they could help drive in some people. Or, they could start giving people tap water who don’t ask for it bottled. That’s another way of cutting costs. I guess you would say to simply cut costs where you can but that’s going to differ from place to place.
Students that have just entered college would be a good group of people to do a test on. If a place like Applebee’s is in need of extra income and college students are always looking for a way to save money, they could start using their restaurant coupons. I think this makes sense because these coupons would help out both the restaurant and the student. The economy could really be positively impacted by restaurant coupons. They seem to be a good way to help during tough times.
