10,000 Steps to Great Wellness

Everybody wants to be as healthy as possible but not everyone has the time to try and do the required amount of exercise to get there. This is actually why some health specialists are advocating the ten thousand step method. The ten thousand step method is an idea that says all you need to try and do to boost your health is to walk at least ten thousand steps every day–this way you won’t have to work out as intensely at the gym. Walking is a good, low impact, exercise. How often have you heard a health care provider say “just a single stroll around the block improves your health”?

Obviously, it will not simple to take ten thousand steps everyday. That’s a great deal of steps to take! Thankfully, you’re likely taking lots of steps every single day and just don’t recognise it. Your goal should really just be increasing your step count by two or three thousand. So how do you accomplish that without feeling like you’re wasting half of your time walking around?

Increasing your current step count can be achieved easily using these obvious methods. Taking the stairway as an alternative to riding the elevator is a common example of this. Parking at the far end of the parking lot is also advisable at the mall or the store. Keep the car in one spot and walk your bags and boxes out to the car once you finish shopping in each store instead of just carrying more and more things with you as you run your errands and go shopping. Choosing public transit is excellent because doing so includes a walk to and from a bus or train stop which is great for increasing your step count. Obviously, just simply choosing a short walk each day is also recommended.

There are also some less obvious ways to improve the amount of steps you take each day. Set up a grocery store grocery list differently. Most people will create a grocery store list according to the aisles in the stores. You could choose to order your list based on category like meat, product and dairy. Simply buy down the list from here. You could end up making several trips back and forth across the store, but it is a great way to grow your step count. Instead of putting your mailbox inside your door or installing it in a wall of your house, put it out by the curb on a post. This could create at least a couple of dozen steps to your count everyday as you walk from the door to the box and back.

Increasing your step count can be achieved in lots of ways. The more accustomed to the idea of 10,000 steps you get the easier it will likely be for you to figure out how to meet your goal. The best thing about this idea is the fact that every single step you take throughout the day counts toward your goal whether they are on treadmills or to the bathroom and back. Have fun with it!
