Setting Realistic Goals

There comes a stage in life when you really need to sit down and give a thought to what your goals and aspirations in life are and decide how to pursue them.

Unless your goals are clearly defined and identified, you will not be able to work towards them. If the same is not clear then your achievements too will not be clear.

Talk to someone who may not know you personally, about your goals and see the feedback he gives. If he has understood clearly, then you can be rest assured you have clarity of your thoughts.

The road to achieving your goals can be a long one and takes you quite a while to get there. But then there will be other smaller victories and achievements on the way that can fill your journey too.

Goals should always be specific, measurable and achievable. It should not be too ambitious or too easy to achieve. If while reaching your goals, you are able to use your potential to the maximum extent, then you will find happiness in your achievement.

The starting point for goal setting can be with working out a draft plan on a piece of paper and take it on from there. Get down to thinking of your aspirations and noting them down.

Once your goal statement is ready, rest is easy to work out. You can now put in an action plan on how, what and when you need to do things to reach there. Thereby your plan is ready. The next step can be to discuss with your family and mentors who will be able to guide and motivate you to start working towards the plan with focus.

The moral, emotional and other assistance from family and friends always helps you give your best to the action plan. Pursue the action plan and walk the talk with single-minded focus and dedication. Do not rest until you have reached your destination.
