If you have been experiencing frustration with your skin care routine, then maybe your methods are not meant for your skin type. This happens a lot more often than you might think. The very first thing anyone should do is choose methods and products appropriate for your skin type. If you have dry, oily, combination, damaged or sensitive skin, there are lots of ways to care for your skin. Of course, there are lots of common mistakes that can be made, even if you get everything else correct. We’ll cover a few tried and true skin care routines for different skin types.
If you have oily skin, we know how the special challenges you face every day. You should keep it basic with your skin care. Wash your face a few time each day and use a simple and gentle soap and water approach. Try not to overdo the washing. Don’t use a lot of soap and don’t scrub too hard because this can take all of the natural oil off of your skin. What does that do? Your oil glands will jump into overdrive to replace the oil that has been lost and makes your skin super oily all over again. It is also a good idea to carry gentle and natural cleansing pads with you when you go out.
If you use a bar soap, use one that is made from natural ingredients. No matter what kind of skin you have, choose natural soaps that are gentle for your skin. You honestly do not need to spend twenty dollars on a bar of soap at a boutique. You should only use bar soap on your face every once in a while. Even people with oily skin can get dried out if they use too much of it.
There is a consensus among dermatologists about skin care, and they all resoundingly agree that a proper sunscreen is the single most important component for skin care. You already know how harmful too much sun can be. Even if you aren’t a regular sunbather, after years of living the cumulative damage effects will begin to appear. Tanning salon beds are not any better for you than natural sunlight. Do not let winter months or cloudy days fool you. Harmful UV rays are still present and raging war on your skin.
Good skin care is important for all types of skin because all skin needs to be taken care of (regardless of type). If you don’t know what your skin type is, ask a qualified beautician to give you an expert opinion. She will be able to help you develop a good skin care routine but be wary of being sold something that you do not need. When you have everything figured out, you might need to try a few different products to figure out what works best.
