Spring is a time of rebirth, rejuvenation, and a time when nature once again starts to emerge. Winter has just about passed, a new sense of promise can be felt, and moods generally are on the upswing. Since most people hunker down through the cold weather, hide under bulky clothing, and often over indulge (especially during the holiday season) spring can also be a great time to assess your overall physical condition and start a new diet.
It can really be a great time to begin a diet for so many reasons. Once the weather begins to warm up, people tend to want to eat lighter, fresher meals, and take advantage of seasonal foods. Salads, and fresh fare, are easier to digest, and promote better natural bodily functions. Using this to your advantage can help you to lose a great deal more weight. Another reason is that the days are getting longer, and we are getting more sunlight during the day too. Spring also offers temperature ranges that are quite comfortable. Since the weather is no longer too cold, and has not yet gotten oppressive, you can enjoy getting out and taking part in a pickup game of basketball or baseball. You can even burn a number of extra fat and calories by taking a weekend away somewhere.
As I said earlier then you get access to more seasonal fruits and vegetables in spring, and these are often grown locally too so you can get healthy, fresh produce instead of buying the stuff from supermarkets that is flown half way round the world. Stop by your local farm shop and check out what they have on offer, you will probably save yourself some money at the same time! By getting access to different tasty and fresh food then it makes your diet meals that much more interesting.
Spring makes us feel good, but it also makes us restless for change, we want to start new things and clear out our old clutter.
