This dentist’s waking hours is spent on figuring out a cure for a disease which would be eliminated if only people would just brush their teeth. He says some 28 million people in the United States alone suffer from advanced periodontitis or gum disease. This disease will make a lot of people lose their healthy teeth at an early stage. Although the disease is not lethal, according to the director of the University of Washington?s center for research in oral biology, it affects almost everybody to varying degrees and add up to the $5 billion spent by Americans annually on dental care.

Hard pressure applied to both teeth and jaws through gnashing and clenching. They are the signs that show how the present is becoming more and more stresful for people. Men and women may release tension through potentially harmful mouth movements because of the stressful situations they constantly find themselves in. It is getting common for adults to exhibit a condition known as bruxism, where adults grind their teeth and clench their jaws while asleep. The side effects of clicking jaw joints, a relatively common neuromuscular problem nowadays, include ear pain and headaches among others.
