The 10 minute regime for brighter skin

Cleaning your face is extremely important to remove excess dirt and oil production. Having too much oil in your skin can cause spots as well so be sure to adopt a daily facial care routine that suits you and try to stick to it.

11 steps to a healthier complexion

1 – The first thing to do is to tie your hair back so that it doesn’t come in your way when you are trying to wash your face. If you have a fringe then use a headband or grip pins to push the hair back away from your face.

2 – Then you need to wash your own hands because you don’t want to be cleaning your face with dirty hands as that won’t help but probably hinder the cleaning regime.

3 – You then need to dampen your face with warm water or steam as this will allow your pores to open up for a better deep cleanse.

4 – You can then get a blob of facial wash (or cleanser), as big as your finger tip, rub it between your fingers until it gets foamy or build up a lather. If possible, try to invest in a product that is gentle enough for your skin type. This is because if a strong product is used then it could potentially dry out the skin, causing the oil glands to produce more oil. When we are cleansing we don’t want our skin to be oily, we want it to be fresh and retain its water levels for moisture.

5 – Anyways, once you have built up the lather, you can start applying it on your face, using your finger tips to gently massage the cleanser into your skin to remove the dirt and excess oil. So take a few seconds to massage your hairline, moving into the “T-zone” and forehead. The work into your nose, clean the edges thoroughly, moving swiftly to the nostril area, and finally mouth, chin and then cheeks. Your neck should be cleansed using upwards strokes and then behind your areas. Cleaning behind your areas is not something you just do when you have a shower, its something that you have to do on a daily basis twice a day when you clean your face, trust me, when you get to the age of 50, you’ll be thanking me for this.

Now I know that some of you also use facial scrubbers but I recommend you use these twice a week or every other day as your skin is very delicate and by using slightly harsher products such as these, you can stop the skin from naturally recovering and producing new skin.

6 – You can now start to rinse off the cleanser with tepid water, switch between warm and cold to promote blood circulation.

7- Use soft linen towel to dry your face, don’t scrub it dry, just pat dry, especially around your eyes.

8 – You can then apply a facial toner to tighten the pores and form a base for the moisturiser to be applied on.

9 – Apply a moisturiser to your face, taking special care to avoid the eye area. This will help to promote the moisture levels.

10 – Eye Cream is also very important, don’t put normal moisturiser on your eyes, always use targeted eye cream as it is the most gentle area of your skin.

11 – If this is done every morning and night, you will start to see and feel the difference in your skin.
