The Scott Voltage or Yz range has been about for a few years now. With the backing and designs from Timo Pretzil (the guy responsible for the double back flip) the range has gone from strength to strength.
Originally the product range was introduced as being a kids range, with their big down tubes and monstrous chainstays, frame warranties within the usual kids’ skids and riding into kerbs became an item of the past. The number immediately sold well as parents wanted a bike that lasted. Scott chose to launch a mountain bike………
Surprisingly the sales carried on through to the adult sizes just as well but on the higher end models such as the Voltage Yz2 and Voltage Yz1. These models came fully equipped with Shimano gearing and cable or hydraulic disc brakes. With prices topping out at around 480 these really made a dent in the market.
After a successful couple of years the more hardcore Yz0 jump bike and Yz ltd were released as both a full bike or as a frame only model. Timo Pritzil put his name behind the Yz0 frameset and is responsible for countless 1sts on a jump bike. Currently the bright Orange Voltage 0.2 is one of the more popular models. Suitable for ramp riding, street and dirt this single speed jump bike does it all. Still keeping the oversized tubing that made the frame so well known the frameset really does stand out. Set off with white BMX style single speed crank (ideal for clearance over the coping on ramps) and a white Marzocchi dirt jumper 3 fork set at 100mm of travel it really does look the part. Even the disc brake callipers are white.
Over the years with 4x racing and dual slalom racing getting bigger in the UK the higher end Voltages have been the better sellers and with the quality of the frames they are still used for custom builds by many. They really are one of the most versatile jump bikes out there with the strength and ability to cope with the harshest of rides.
See a good range of mountain bikes here. I’ve found some amazing deals and I think you should check them out.
