Skin a part of our body. Application of skincare products alone is not the best way to maintain skin health. Similar to maintaining body health, we need to supply our skin with moisture and nutrients in order to have healthy skin.
Human bodies require water (or moisture). Water is not only important for maintaining body functions, it is also the most effective anti aging substance for our skin. Skin without sufficient moisture often suffer a lot of different skin problems. In addition, the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor areas causes moisture loss from our skin. Therefore, we should hydrate our skin regularly.
We do not need expensive skincare products to supply water or moisture to our skin actually. We can simply drink more water to hydrate our skin (around 2 liters per day). Other than drinking water, vegetables and fruits also contain large amount of moisture. We may get around 400 ml of water or moisture by eating 500 grams of vegetables and fruits.
Water or moisture intake to body may be lost easily. Therefore, we need to find ways to lock them up. Other than skincare products, the stratum corneum is the most effective and natural moisture lock. It has natural moisturizing factors and hydroxide radical for retaining moisture. Therefore, it is important not to excessively remove stratum corneum, skin’s outermost layer with exfoliators too often.
Skin has epidermis (outer layer) and dermis layers (inner layer). Dryness may happen in both epidermis and dermis. There are different causes for epidermis hydropenia and dermis hydropenia. Epidermis hydropenia is usually caused by improper skincare procedures (e.g. ways of facial cleansing) and habits. Dermis hydropenia is usually caused by aging, stress, emotional problems and health problems.
The easiest way to care for your skin is to laugh. It has been proved that laugh does help sooth anxiety and emotional problems. This also helps maintain youthful skin and appearance.
