The competition was filled with mortifying and hazardous steps for getting slimmer and this no way made them victorious. I saw a sit and replay a few days ago in which i noticed all the members of an office competing against the other departments to Lose the maximum weight.
The competition was humorous and enjoyable but it gave me a thought that how many would be ready to lose weight rapidly?
Well, let’s look at some popular weight loss strategies: A pill which causes diarrhea if one eats too much fat. Drinking grapefruit juice and eating almost nothing else. The cabbage soup diet. Throwing up after meals (bulimia). Hot dogs and ramen noodles (yes, I actually know of an educated woman who developed scurvy this way).
People do not easily put on weight as it takes very long time where it is opposite to the fact of losing weight rapidly. The methods stated are severe but there are lot of people going for such methods for weight loss.
When the consumption of calories drop to 800 or less for a day the results may be intense and some are:
Muscle loss -extreme diets don’t generally pull from fat stores, but rather from muscle tissue. The result is that the body thinks it’s starving and lowers the metabolism to protect itself. When one does finally return to a “normal” diet, the lowered metabolism generally causes the person to gain even more weight than before the diet was attempted.
Less intake of water is harmful to health and the system draws all the nutrients from the water before the fat. Loss of water results in reduced metabolic rate and lack of fluids in the body.
Skin droops as a result of losing weight quickly ans this prohibits the skin from contracting. Loss of muscles makes the skin lifeless and many opt for operations to cut down the extra fat and may form scars.
Hair loss/gain – In extreme diets, people can lose their hair due to poor nutrition. In long term situations, as with people who are anorexic (a distorted body image condition where the sufferer actually starves him/herself in an attempt to lose weight), the body actually develops hair all over in order to protect itself from the elements.
Seizures – Many people with bulimia (throwing up after meals) end up with their electrolytes out of balance which can lead to seizures, which in turn can lead to heart attack and/or coma.
The problems faced in strict dieting are not worse when comparing to those being too fat. People are sadly obese and they take up strict diet procedure from their doctor and are noted continuously. So both of the problems get mounted here.
A balanced diet, limiting fats and following the “food pyramid” has shown the most promise for long term weight loss. Adding physical exercise to one’s routine is a must. The problem is that most people (again, in an effort to achieve quick results) tend to overdo it and put themselves at risk for injury or simple burn-out.
I highly recommend my Weight Loss Breeze program. The exercises are natural and simple to do. Best of all – they really work!
