Unfortunately there is no magic answer to weight control. If you are overweight it usually means that you are consuming more energy (food) than you use (physical activity). The most successful weight loss programs involve both diet and exercise.
Try to avoid losing weight too quickly. A slow and steady loss following a change in habits is better than a quick loss caused by dramatically cutting down your food intake. Aim for about 1-3 kg (2-6 lb) per month. It may not sound like much, but adds up to quite a lot over a year. If you are overweight, losing five to ten per cent of your body weight should make your diabetes much easier to manage.
Changing your lifestyle to accommodate weight loss can be difficult but it is definitely worth the effort, especially when you realize your health is at stake. You can see improvements in blood pressure, glucose levels and many other risk factors associated with diabetes with even the smallest weight loss.
You might not be very keen on joining a gym or exercise class, but this kind of exercise program is likely to have swift results. If the gym isn’t for you, it can be amazing how much extra physical activity you can incorporate into your daily routine when you put your mind to it. Try walking instead of driving, getting off the bus one stop earlier and using the stairs instead of the lift.
You will not find a weight loss technique that does not include changing your diet. That being said you should be careful because a reduction in food can cause low blood sugar. When this happens you will need to eat to reverse your sugar drop. As you probably know there are tons of diets available and it can be hard to choose among them.
Another thing you should try is to boost your metabolism. The metabolism is the dieters best friend. Although most people do not even know it and they often do the things that cause the metabolism to slow down when they want to lose weight. This causes the body to be working against them instead of with them as it could be used.
Your metabolism is not stationary, you have all the control and you can increase or decrease your metabolic rate with your actions. Most of the time when you go on a diet you will get three pieces of advice, cut calories, cut fat and lose the snacks. These three things are the worst dieting tips you could ever receive. When you follow a plan like this you will find that the weight becomes stuck like glue and the fat will refuse to budge from your body.
You can do many things to speed up your metabolism, including eating regular meals every day. This is probably the best advice you will ever get for losing weight. Try eating more often as well, every two to three hours eat a smaller meal, this will kick your metabolism into overdrive and you will burn fat quickly. Be cautious however that you do not go over the recommended daily allowance of calories when you add all your smaller meals up.
Weight loss plans need snacks, there is not doubt about this fact. Generally diets will ban you from eating snacks but this is the wrong way to go about weigh loss. A good snack will also help boost metabolism leading to weight loss. You will want to avoid unhealthy snacks and choose fruits and vegetables instead.
