What do I do?
The Best Life diet is broken down into three phases. The goal of the first phase is retrain you so that you get rid of your old habits and get used to new healthier habits. This phase only lasts for four weeks and lets you get adjusted to your new way of thinking about food.
The first phase is somewhat regimented in that you will always eat three meals and a snack and no eating within two hours of going to bed. You’ll start to work in daily exercise and you’ll also be taking vitamins and supplements to make sure you’re not missing out on the nutrients you need.
After four weeks of phase one you progress into the next four weeks of phase two. This phase is a little tougher. You start to learn more about the mindless eating that a lot of us do every day and also become aware of the eating that we do in response to emotional stress rather than hunger.
Also in this phase you will weigh yourself weekly to get feedback on how you’re doing. If you’re not losing one to two pounds a week you’re probably not exercising discipline with portion control
Phase Three is all about maintenance. You have learned to eliminate unhealthy foods like soft drinks, fried food, processed snacks and other foods that raise bad cholesterol and increase health risks. In their place, you are eating whole grains, low fat dairy, lean meat and fish. Incorporated into this phase is regular time for eating your favorite, albeit not necessarily healthy foods (pizza, cake, cookies, etc.). This way you can have your health and eat your cake too.
