Eyelash dye is a very useful product to use if you have pale coloured eyelashes, but is not much use if you have darker hair as all it does is to colour the lashes. If you combine this with eyelash growth products, then you can probably say good-bye to having to use mascara all the time. Although you can certainly get this procedure performed at the salon, as your eyelashes grow just as fast as your head hair, you may find this can get pricey. Thankfully, this is one thing you can successfully do yourself at home provided you follow a few essential guidelines.
Eyelash dye can usually be found in brown or black and your kit will contain all you need to complete the procedure. Please make sure you read the instructions very carefully and follow them. If you don’t you run the risk of making your eyes red and sore. Generally speaking, the process will involve a common set of procedures.
In the kit, you will naturally find a tube of dye, the application wand and a stirring stick for the solution, activating solution and a disposable mixing tray. Sometimes you will find eye shields included, if not, pop some Vaseline around the eye as this will help safely remove excess dye that doesn’t go where intended!
First you will need to squeeze about 2 inches of the dye into the tray. Mix this with just a couple of drops of the activation solution, being careful not to make the mix too runny or it won’t stay on the wand, or indeed on your eyelashes. Stir the mix well.
Then coat the mascara wand with the mix and apply to the lashes, get as close to the eye-line as you can. You will of course need to apply to the top side of the lashes as well as the underneath. Apply the mix smoothly and evenly, and take care to coat the lashes evenly with the dye.
Then you need to wait for five to ten minutes for the dye to fix. It may take longer but you will need to experiment with this. Then you need to wash the mix gently away and then pat dry. Take care not to get the dye in your eyes.
Just going back to eyelash growth products mentioned above, if you use an eyelash growth serum, leave at least 48 hours between using the eyelash dye and the serums as they are applied in a similar way. If you use both processes, your lashes will look incredible without any mascara!
