With all the crash diets, detoxes and general misinformation about how to live a healthy life out there, how does one actually know what to believe? It seems like one day it’s low carb and then the next people are drinking lemon juice to detox.
Well, I’m here to tell you that there is a way to help sort out this mess. The following is a list of some of the most important guidelines one should follow to lead a healthy lifestyle and control your weight.
Vegetables and fruits – The majority of people don’t get their daily recommended amounts of fruits and veggies. Studies have shown that people don’t even get half of that! But, these nutritional powerhouses are crucial to a healthy lifestyle so try adding more of these to your diet. You can do that by making fruit smoothies, add veggies to casseroles and lasagna’s, and stock up on frozen veggies so you always have some on hand.
Whole Foods – Stay away from processed foods such as crackers, chips, cookies, etc by making the bulk of your diet consist of whole, natural foods. They will not only pass on more nutrients but the will fill you up and keep you feeling full for longer.
It’s all about calories – Calories are what matters when you are looking to either lose or even maintain your weight. If you are looking to drop a few pounds then eliminate a small amount of calories from your diet through a proper low calorie diet plan and/or follow an exercise plan. Which leads us to…
Physical activity – The absolute best approach to leading a healthy lifestyle is to not only follow a healthy diet but to exercise! Shoot for at least 30 minutes of physical activity everyday. If exercising isn’t your thing thing then try to sneak it in by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, for example.
