I have tried a lot of treatments for getting rid of a wart. Listed below are common treatments and how successful they have been.
Duct tape – this technique did work on a wart on a foot by letting a callous to develop where the tape was and then scraping the callous every few days with a stone. You will need to be consistent using the tape and removing the dead skin and in about 4 weeks the wart should be gone.
Liquid Nitrogen – you could purchase the freezing wart solution at a local drug store over the counter. This tends to be a little on the pricey side and one treatment doesn’t normally remove the wart, although you will find some reduction in size but if you do not treat it again a second time when it reduces the wart will grow again to its original size.
Hydrogen Peroxide – this works like the salicylic acid in that if you use a strong version of the hydrogen peroxide it is very caustic to the skin and applying with a q-tip just to the wart skin area will start to kill the wart. You’ll see that you must apply this three or four times everyday constantly for a period of four weeks or more. Every few days or once a week you need to remove the dead skin to allow the chemical to start working on the fresh skin underneath otherwise you are wasting your time by applying to the dead area.
Fresh Garlic – I actually found this to work pretty well. The fresh garlic has a natural compound that starts to kill the wart virus. You crush a clove of garlic and apply some of the smashed product to the middle of a band aid and tape it onto the wart. You must leave it on there for around 30 minutes or longer. If it starts to burn you can remove it. Apply about three times a day.
Salicylic acid – this could be acquired over the counter and is a general wart therapy. It works somewhat like hydrogen peroxide in killing the top layer of skin of the wart and you need to remove the bad skin and continue applying onto the next layer until you remove the whole wart. This application ordinarily takes at least three to four weeks and must be consistently applied around twice each day.
Remove a wart can be simple but usually takes a period of about a month. Don’t rush the process or you will end up with a wart that grows back larger than before.
