Do You Need A Weight Loss Plan?

Dieters the world over have one common mistake. It’s universal and it’s obvious. And for many…it’s repetitive. There’s not a plan.

Most people have to work really hard to lose weight. They have to work really hard for quite a while; and they have to be consistent. They can’t just work really hard for one whole day and then reward themselves with cheesecake because they did a good job all day. Or at least most dieters can’t behave this way. Dieters who can successfully lose weight using this method actually just have fantastic luck or great genes or something. And these people really have no reason to be reading this type of article.

But the rest of us (the normal people)…the people who really, really want to lose weight, but find the ever pressing need to diet exhausting to the extreme…we need a good weight loss plan. And by weight loss plan we’re not talking about a specific diet or weight loss program. We’re talking about your personal weight loss plan; your plan to succeed while dieting.

You should consider:

1. Weight loss goal

2. A time limit: don’t make this a never ending battle. Give yourself a firm deadline.

3. Your chosen method: how are you going to lose weight? A diet? A program?

4. Your weight loss reasoning: why are you losing weight? It’s helpful to write this down and keep it in mind.

5. And your reward

Reward? Bribe? Yup. That’s what we’re talking about. Bribery may be less than pretty, but it’s effective. Any parent would have to agree. So bribe yourself to stick to your weight loss plan. Why not? Make the reward personal; something that you would do almost anything to get.

1. Clothing (designate a dollar amount that you’ll get to spend on a shopping spree once all is said and done)

2. a trip (a popular choice after successful weight loss is a cruise)

3. A fantastic new, designer suit (have you always wanted to own one?)

4. A congratulatory bash! You don’t have to announce what it’s for…but throw the party of the year and you’ll know it’s all about you!

The reward shouldn’t matter to anyone, but you. And it needs to matter a lot to you. So if none of the above does it for you then choose something differently. It doesn’t matter if it’s radically different. It can have nothing to do with the recent weight lost. It can just be something that you’ve wanted for a while and would be really excited to get or see or do. That’s up to you. But it’s going to be your motivation so make it good.
