Exercise for Weight Loss and Fun

Some days it is just hard to get out of bed knowing that your next move is to exercise. This is especially true for those who just aren’t “morning” people. Unfortunately, it’s not any easier to think about exercising after a hard days work. Even if you have a desk job, it is mentally tiring and a nice meal and hot bath may seem more appealing.

In fact, staying motivated to exercise every day, day in and day out is a big downfall for many of us. Face it, exercise can be boring or tedious at times.

In order to exercise on a regular basis, you need motivation. For some people, motivation is the fact that they know they will get leaner. For others, health issues may be at hand. And the rest of us need more. Making exercise more fun may be the motivation that could work.

A tip that you have probably already heard is to work out with a friend. This is an excellent tactic since it not only keeps you motivated, but you can challenge each other, stay on track, laugh together and turn your exercise into a game.

The next tip is to make your workout a time for socialization. A gym is a fun place to meet other people who are interested in health. You can get tips from those who are experienced or just people watch while on an exercise cycle. If you prefer to not use a gym, try the local hiking trail where you can meet regulars who exercise on a daily basis. No matter which situation, by keeping your workout at the same time of the day enables you to meet others who have their routine established.

If you want to feel like a kid again, go to the local playground. Use the monkey bars and do pull-ups, slide or climb the ropes if the park has them. Let your imagination go and just have fun using your muscles. Create a routine that you can follow so you can sense progress, or not.

An outdoor exercise circuit is fun for those who love the outdoors. Some parks have circuit courses set up with planned exercise stations. All you have to do is walk, jog or even run to each station and then follow the instructions. If there isn’t a planned course, then try a combination of jogging and walking alternated with various calisthenic exercises. For example, jog 100 feet then drop and do ten pushups, walk the next 100 feet and then drop to do ten squats.

Let your inner child jump for joy. Jumping on an exercise trampoline, also called rebounding, is a popular way for people to get healthy. Proponents say it stimulates your immunity, tones all your muscles and increases oxygen intake all at the same time. These exercise trampolines are fold-able and fit right in your living room so you can watch television or listen to music while you jump.

Use your power of imagination for motivation and success. Picture yourself as already muscular or fit while you are working out. Research shows that focusing on your muscles while working out gives better results. Visualization is a powerful tool for many athletes.

There are a variety of ways to have fun while exercising. Find what you enjoy and as Nike says; just do it. Look for exercise dvd’s and explore your neighborhood to see what is available. Then keep it fun and interesting and strive to do something every day.

The important thing is to move your body and have fun exercising almost every day. These are habits that will keep you young and healthy for life.
