Using Exercise Strategies For Effective Weight Loss

How much do you move around in your daily life? You may shrug this question off with the belief that you are active enough, but what if we said that walking from the couch to the refrigerator didn’t count? What if just walking down the office for two minutes to drop something on someone’s desk and walking from your office to your car didn’t count?

You probably wouldn’t be able to report a lot of activity in this case if you are like most people today. Our bodies are designed for movement, but our modern lifestyle has us trapped in an unnatural sedentary pattern.

At present, the world is in the midst of an obesity epidemic and it’s easy to see why. Just compare the way people lived in the past to the way most of us live today. A farmer for example, would run or walk approximately 15 miles per day while working the land, and his wife, while going about her duties, would clock up about 5 miles or more.

Nowadays however, we would be lucky if we even did one mile per day. What a vast difference, and to make matters even worse, just look at the size of the food portions we eat. People in general eat far more now than they did in the past. Now you can see why it’s so fundamentally important to incorporate some physical activity in our daily lives, even if it means you spend some time on a walking machine.

If you’re overweight, you’re almost certainly consuming too many calories, and your body will in turn be storing all that excess energy away in the form of fat. While spending a few hours on a walking machine each week will definitely help you to lose some weight, you will also need to adopt a healthy diet, especially in you want long term results.

The great news is you can make 3 simply changes to your current lifestyle, and you will immediately begin to feel better, and the weight you lose will also be gone for good:

1. When you sleep, your body rejuvenates itself. Also, if you’re not getting sufficient sleep, you’ll find it’s almost impossible to increase your level of activity, and studies have also shown that a lack of sleep causes people to eat more calorie-rich foods. If you are having difficulty sleeping, then you need to do some research in order to find the best natural sleep aid.

2. Walk at least five times per week. If you have two functioning legs, you have no excuse not to walk. It doesn’t matter if you can’t afford one of those fancy walking machines you see in the gyms, because you could still go for a walk around your neighborhood, even if it’s only for half an hour each time.

3. Plan your workouts. Even if you are just walking on the treadmill, make sure that you stick with your plans by scheduling times for your workouts. This eliminates a lot of the excuses that typically cause people to miss workouts, such as thinking you don’t have time to fit it in. If you feel guilty for taking time to walk and prepare healthier meals for yourself remind yourself that you could be saving your own life which is a great gift to those who love you. Try to get the family and those you love involved with your new healthy life and the guilt may just go away completely.
